Harvest Collection 2025

On Friday 3rd October we held harvest assemblies in school, where we celebrated all of the lovely food that harvest time brings us. Our theme was around the topic of ‘Being Thankful’ and classes had been reflecting on this during the week.

Families and staff had been asked to bring in donations for us to take down to Blackburn Foodbank, to support local people who may be struggling and provide them with some help and food support.

This week, some of our older students packed up all of the food items and took them down to the foodbank, unloading them, putting them in the trolley and taking them inside to give to the volunteers to organise to be distributed - they had a great time putting their independence and communication skills into practise.

Some of our other older students again enjoyed their session with cookstars where they weer working on their food preparation skills, making a tea loaf. The boys all worked really well and we are starting to see some budding bakers - getting confident measuring, mixing and following instructions to make delicious food - they quite like eating it too!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our harvest celebrations and helped us to think about looking after other people.
