Healthy Lungs Workshop

Today, Our Family Wellbeing Coordinators invited Meghann Ewing, Joeann Flannigan and Peter O’Malley from the Learning Disability Services into school, to deliver a Healthy Lungs Workshop to some of our older students.

We exchanged ideas and strategies on how to maintain or develop healthy lungs. We need to drink plenty of non-sugary drinks, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and get regular exercise.

It was pretty fun, especially when we got to create our very own inflatable lung and use medical equipment to measure our airflow, heart rate etc…

At the end, we all got a certificate and a lovely keyring to remind us of the good advice given to us by Meghann, Joeann and Peter.

Science is Fun at Newfield and our older students loved meeting new people and developing their independence in maintaining good health!

I’m glad it was enjoyed by all, we loved delivering both! We had a brilliant time and felt so welcomed; we would absolutely love to replicate it again next year!

Both teachers have specifically wanted to say how fantastic the sessions were and how brilliant your team were with the children – it really does mean a lot and I believe they all had a wonderful time.
