Scientists

S2 were busy at the Inter-Schools Athletics Competition at Broadfield Special School and so missed the science fair last week, so they have been doing some experiments in class. They dressed up as scientists wearing white coats and safety goggles. Firstly, they made slime using glue and contact lens solution. It didn’t work so they used slime powder and added glitter instead. They loved this activity but it was really difficult to get rid at the end. It was stuck to the tables and our hands.

The next day, they made bottle rockets using empty drinks bottles and they decorated them, filled them half way with vinegar and wrapped bicarbonate of soda in tissue paper. They took the bottles outside and dropped it in the vinegar. The rockets went really high up in the sky. It was such a fun activity.

Today, S2 have made an alien balloon. Firsly, they blew up a balloon and then drew a face on the balloon and then filled the balloon with sodium bicarbonate.

Next, they poured vinegar into a bottle.

Finally, they put the balloon on the neck of the bottle and lifted the balloon so that the sodium bicarb mixed with the vinegar, creating carbon dioxide which blew the balloon up - it was science-tactic!!
