Today we joined others across the country in celebrating the lovely Captain Tom. His family asked for people to join in completing 100 of a different activity in celebration of what would be his 101st Birthday and in remembrance of his efforts in raising money for the NHS last year through his 100 laps of his garden. We encouraged all staff and children to join in with completing 100 of various activities based on their needs and interests, individually or as part of a group. This week in our School for Autism we have been celebrating Earth Day by combining our creative skills to create one huge poster that increases awareness of the event. The event itself began in America in 1969 as a reaction to a disastrous oil spill. We have returned to school for the summer term and lots of fun activities and learning is already well under way! Spring is here and with it a bit better weather and opportunities to learn about new life - our youngest children in school in class 1 have been having some exciting adventures collecting tadpoles from the pond in our sensory garden. Children and staff in the school for SEND have been so excited to be back in the building and able to take part in fun activities at the end of this short half term.
